# Overview Warlocks quest for knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. They often begin their search for magical power by delving into tomes of forbidden lore, dabbling in invocations meant to attract the power of extraplanar beings, or seeking places of power where the influence of these beings can be felt. In no time, each Warlock is drawn into a binding pact with a powerful patron. Drawing on the ancient knowledge of beings such as Angels, Archfey, Demons, Devils, Hags, and alien entities of the Far Realm, Warlocks piece together arcane secrets to bolster their own power. Warlocks view their patrons as resources, as means to the end of achieving magical power. Some Warlocks respect, revere, or even love their patrons; some serve their patrons grudgingly; and some seek to undermine their patrons even as they wield the power their patrons have given them. Once a pact is made, a Warlock's thirst for knowledge and power can't be slaked with mere study. Most Warlocks spend their days pursuing greater power and deeper knowledge, which typically means some kind of adventure. ## Warlock Features Table | Level | PB | Features | Invocations | Cantrips | Prepared Spells | Spell Slots | Slot Level | |:---:|:---:|---|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:| | 1st | +2 | Eldritch Invocations (Level 1), Pact Magic (Level 1), Eldritch Invocation Options (Level 1) | 1 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | | 2nd | +2 | Magical Cunning (Level 2) | 3 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 1 | | 3rd | +2 | Warlock Subclass (Level 3) | 3 | 2 | 4 | 2 | 2 | | 4th | +2 | Ability Score Improvement (Level 4) | 3 | 3 | 5 | 2 | 2 | | 5th | +3 | — | 5 | 3 | 6 | 2 | 3 | | 6th | +3 | Subclass Feature (Level 6) | 5 | 3 | 7 | 2 | 3 | | 7th | +3 | — | 6 | 3 | 8 | 2 | 4 | | 8th | +3 | Ability Score Improvement (Level 8) | 6 | 3 | 9 | 2 | 4 | | 9th | +4 | Contact Patron (Level 9) | 7 | 3 | 10 | 2 | 5 | | 10th | +4 | Subclass Feature (Level 10) | 7 | 4 | 10 | 2 | 5 | | 11th | +4 | Mystic Arcanum (Level 11) | 7 | 4 | 11 | 3 | 5 | | 12th | +4 | Ability Score Improvement (Level 12) | 8 | 4 | 11 | 3 | 5 | | 13th | +5 | Mystic Arcanum (Level 13) | 8 | 4 | 12 | 3 | 5 | | 14th | +5 | Subclass Feature (Level 14) | 8 | 4 | 12 | 3 | 5 | | 15th | +5 | Mystic Arcanum (Level 15) | 9 | 4 | 13 | 3 | 5 | | 16th | +5 | Ability Score Improvement (Level 16) | 9 | 4 | 13 | 3 | 5 | | 17th | +6 | Mystic Arcanum (Level 17) | 9 | 4 | 14 | 4 | 5 | | 18th | +6 | — | 10 | 4 | 14 | 4 | 5 | | 19th | +6 | Epic Boon (Level 19) | 10 | 4 | 15 | 4 | 5 | | 20th | +6 | Eldritch Master (Level 20) | 10 | 4 | 15 | 4 | 5 | ## Core Traits > [!recite|embed] Warlock > ### Core Traits > **Primary Ability:** Charisma >**Hit Dice**: 1d8 per Warlock level >**Hit Points at First Level:** 8 + CON >**Hit Points at Higher Levels:** d8 + CON modifier, or 5 + CON modifier<br> > > ### Proficiencies > **Saving Throw Proficiencies**: CHA, WIS > **Weapon Proficiencies**: Simple weapons > **Armour Training**: [[Armour|Light Armour]] > > ### Skill Proficiencies (Choose 2) >>[!column|flex 3 no-t]+ Skill Proficiencies (Choose 2) >>> [!blank|no-t] >>> - [[Skill List|Arcana]] >>> - [[Skill List|Deception]] >>> - [[Skill List|History]] >> >>> [!blank|no-t] >>> - [[Skill List|Intimidation]] >>> - [[Skill List|Investigation]] >> >>> [!blank|no-t] >>> - [[Skill List|Nature]] >>> - [[Skill List|Religion]] >### Starting Equipment (Choose A or B) >>[!column|no-t callout-bordered]+ Skill Proficiencies (Choose 2) >>> [!info|no-i bg-plain c-black] (A) >>> - [[Leather Armour]] >>> - [[Sickle]] >>> - 2 [[Dagger|Daggers]] >>> - [[Arcane Focus]] ([[Orb]]) >>> - [[Book]] (occult lore) >>> - [[Scholar's Pack]] >>> - 15 GP >> >>> [!info|no-i bg-plain c-black] (B) >>> - 100 GP > ### Multiclassing > To qualify for a new class, you must have a score of at least 13 in the primary ability of the new class and your current classes. # Class Features ## Eldritch Invocation (Level 1) >[!recite] Details >**Eldritch Invocations.** You have unearthed [[#Eldritch Invocations Options]], pieces of forbidden knowledge that imbue you with an abiding magical ability or other lessons. >[!info] Gaining Invocations > > **Level 1.** You gain one invocation of your choice, such as [[Pact of the Tome]].
