# Overview ## General - **Roleplaying Guidelines.** The failure of the Pride Saving Throw is meant to represent a character's deeper progression into arrogance and pride. - The player should aim to roleplay in such a way that accurately represents the character's stage of progression.
## Progression - **Pride Saving Throw.** If the character expended at least one Pride Die, they must make a WIS Saving Throw at the end of their next [[Long Rest]]. - On a successful save, the character suffers no effects. - On a failure, they suffer the effects of the next level in a [[#Curse Stages|Stage]]. - The base DC increase based on the Character's Level (see [[#Pride DC Table]]). - **Stages.** The character begins their journey of Pride at [[#Stage 1]], for each Pride Saving Throw they fail, they suffer the effects of the next level in a Stage. - Once the character reaches the end of a Stage, the next time they fail a Pride Saving Throw, they go to the next stage.
## Pride DC Table | Character Level | DC | | --------------- | --- | | **1–4** | 10 | | **5–8** | 13 | | **9–12** | 15 | | **13–16** | 18 | | **17–19** | 20 | | **20+** | 23 |

# Curse Stages ## Stage 1: Overconfidence > **Note.** If the required cost is equal to the Proficiency Bonus of the character, then they are considered to be at the last level of the Stage.
| Level | Effect | | :-----: | ------ | | **1** | The character gains the [[Endless Pride]] Feat, and must expend at least 1 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 1d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] until they expend all their Pride Die.| | **2** | The character must expend at least 2 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 2d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] at the end of their next [[Long Rest]] until they expend at least 6 Pride Die. | | **3** | The character must expend at least 3 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 3d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] at the end of their next [[Long Rest]] until they expend at least 6 Pride Die. | | **4** | The character must expend at least 4 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 4d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] at the end of their next [[Long Rest]] until they expend at least 6 Pride Die. | | **5** | The character must expend at least 5 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 5d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] at the end of their next [[Long Rest]] until they expend at least 6 Pride Die. | | **6** | The character must expend at least 6 Pride Die before their next [[Long Rest]] or have a 6d6 penalty to all [[D20 Test\|D20 Tests]] at the end of their next [[Long Rest]] until they expend at least 6 Pride Die. |

## Stage 2: Arrogance > **Note.** The character suffers the penalties of each level below the one they are in.
