Instead of using a weapon to make a melee attack, you can use a punch, kick, head-butt, or similar forceful blow. In game terms, this is an Unarmed Strike—a melee attack that involves you using your body to damage, grapple, or shove a target within 5 feet of you.
Whenever you use your Unarmed Strike, choose one of the following options for its effect:
> **1. Damage.** You make an attack roll against the target. Your bonus to the roll equals your STR modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus. On a hit, the target takes Bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + your STR modifier (minimum 1).
> **2. Grapple.** You make a STR (Athletics check) contested by the target's STR (Athletics) check or DEX (Acrobatics) check (it chooses which).
>
> If both you and the target use STR (Athletics), the following rules apply:
> A participant that is two Sizes larger than the other has [[Advantage]] on the check. If a participant is at least three Sizes larger than the other, it has [[Advantage]] and can reroll one of the d20s once.
>**3. Shove.** The target must succeed on a contested STR (Athletics) or DEX (Acrobatics) check against your STR (Athletics) check. On a failure you either push it 5 feet away or cause it to have the [[Prone]] condition.

>
> You may also forcefully move a target to the side rather than away. Doing so imposes [[Disadvantage]] on your STR (Athletics) check.
>**4. Climb Onto Bigger Creature.** If a creature is two or more Sizes larger than you, you can make a STR (Athletics) or DEX (Athletics) check against the target's DEX Save DC to climb onto it.
>
>On a success, you move into the creature's space, are attached to its body and move with the creature. While on the creature, you have [[Advantage]] on attack rolls against it. You may move within the creature’s space. Every foot you move costs 1 extra foot of movement, unless you have a [[Climb Speed]].
>
>If an effect moves you against your will, gives you the [[Prone]] or [[Incapacitated]] condition, you fall.
>
>You take 1d6 Bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet you fall (minimum 1d6 if the creature is Large or smaller), the DM determines the height of the fall based on the creature's Size.
