# Overview If you perceive a spell being cast or a spell’s effect, you can identify it (no Action required). - **Arcana Check.** You can make an Intelligence (Arcana) Check of DC (15 + the spell's level). - **Components.** To identify a spell as it is being cast, you must be able to see the caster using at least one Somatic or Material component. - **Verbal Components.** If a spell has only Verbal components, you must be able to hear the caster clearly to make the check.
